Job Description:

McKinley Children’s Center is a highly respected child welfare organization, conveniently located near Los Angeles and Orange County in the city of San Dimas, with 4 other locations throughout Southern California. McKinley Children’s Center’s comprehensive array of programs and services - which touch nearly 1,500 lives annually - include Residential Treatment, Foster Care, Adoptions, Mental Health Services and Special Education. McKinley is nationally accredited, licensed by the California Department of Social Services and is certified by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. Our environment is highly therapeutic with many opportunities for activities with the children. Our beautiful 30 acre campus has a large covered outdoor basketball court, Olympic size pool, football/baseball field, play grounds, huge cafeteria, and a sports complex across the street which has baseball fields, tennis courts, and a running track.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  1. Ensure that necessary DCFS, CCL, Title 1, Auditor Controller Office reports and prepared as required for the FFA/Adoptions Program

  2. Recruit foster parents and coordinate all prospective foster parent recruiting efforts

  3. Supervise all employees who have the direct responsibility to recruit

  4. Search for and utilize various forums for recruiting prospective foster parents

  5. Develop various marketing materials to assist with recruitment

  6. Develop a recruiting calendar and assign responsibilities accordingly

  7. Provide data on the number of prospective foster parents recruited and how they were recruited

  8. Ensure that a minimum of 25 inquiries are maintained in ER, 15 applicants, and at least one certification a month

  9. Maintain regular contact with prospective foster parents as needed

  10. Assist in the certification process of prospective foster parents

  11. Certify foster families based upon state and agency regulations and guidelines

  12. Document home inspections, home studies, and re-certification of foster parents

  13. Ensure that certified foster parent folders are complete

  14. Assist with phone coverage, screening of calls, and appropriate transferring of calls

  15. Maintain Extended Reach database in an accurate and complete manner

  16. Maintain a current and accurate caseload on a daily basis

  17. Ensure that all documents and files are properly secured at all times

  18. Maintain accurate and current training schedules

  19. Participate in all meetings as directed

  20. Maintain communication with Administrator, Program Assistant, and Intake Certification Coordinator

  21. Ensure the completion of all trainings required of prospective foster parents prior to certification

  22. Participate with children and staff in special events and celebrations as needed

  23. Respond to emergencies if contacted by foster parent

  24. Believe that people can change; demonstrate an ability to set limits and intervene appropriately to meet the needs of the children and families served

  25. Actively participate in the agency’s Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process as assigned.

Experience and Skills:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  1. Bachelor Degree Highly Desirable

  2. A minimum of 2 years of related experience with Foster Care service; Strong Analytical Ability required

  3. Strong Presentation and Communication Skills Required

COMPUTER/OFFICE SKILLS REQUIRED:

  1. Word processing; General office skills

  2. Excellent reading and writing skills

PHYSICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  1. Must pass pre-employment physical exam, TB and drug screening

  2. Ability to commute to various sites

  3. Ability to lift 10 pounds for filing

CLEARANCES REQUIRED:

  1. DOJ, FBI, Child Abuse Index

  2. Insurability Under Corporate Automobile Insurance
