Job Description:

McKinley Children’s Center is a highly respected child welfare organization, conveniently located near Los Angeles and Orange County in the city of San Dimas, with 4 other locations throughout Southern California. McKinley Children’s Center’s comprehensive array of programs and services - which touch nearly 1,500 lives annually - include Residential Treatment, Foster Care, Adoptions, Mental Health Services and Special Education. McKinley is nationally accredited, licensed by the California Department of Social Services and is certified by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. Our environment is highly therapeutic with many opportunities for activities with the children. Our beautiful 30 acre campus has a large covered outdoor basketball court, Olympic size pool, football/baseball field, play grounds, huge cafeteria, and a sports complex across the street which has baseball fields, tennis courts, and a running track.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To oversee the Outpatient Department, and ensure the treatment philosophy is adhered to and implemented. Ensure that the department is in full regulatory compliance and that best clinical practices are utilized.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  1. Ensure that the Clinical Services Department is in full regulatory compliance and that clinical services are delivered in accordance with recognized best practices.

  2. Provide clinical supervision for Clinical staff in accordance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards and agency policy.

  3. Demonstrate an ability to set limits and intervene appropriately to meet the needs of the children and families served.

  4. Work with other Department managers to increase clear communication and mutual support between programs.

  5. Monitor and assure adherence of programs to all governing bodies.

  6. Monitor case records to assure that required treatment documentation is included and meets agency and professional standards.

  7. Monitor and review all agency protocols and practices, including containment's, one-on-ones and hospitalizations.

  8. Actively participate in the agency’s Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Plan.

  9. Assume responsibility for quality control and outcome measures as assigned.

  10. Hire, supervise and evaluate professional staff and cultivate effective team operation.

  11. Monitor all aspects of the mental health program to assure that the physical, social, and psychological needs of the children are met.

  12. Provide direct social work services as needed.

  13. Ensure compliance to regulations set forth by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health as well as other state and federal agencies and accreditation bodies.

  14. Work with administrative and program staff to provide a culturally competent system of care.

  15. Provide training to directors and supervisors.

  16. Assure the implementation of a comprehensive training program.

  17. Oversee the annual budget and monitor expenses throughout the year.

  18. Other related duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  1. Master’s Degree and Licensure by California Board of Behavioral Services (BBS)

  2. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in DMH-contracted mental health settings

  3. 3-5 years supervisory experience

  4. Qualified to Supervise Clinical Interns per BBS regulations.

COMPUTER/OFFICE SKILLS REQUIRED:

  1. Word Processing, Email, internet

  2. Ability to learn clinical software, basic office skills (i.e. typing, telephone, copier)

PHYSICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  1. Must pass pre-employment physical exam, TB and drug screening

  2. Ability to commute to various sites on and off campus

  3. Ability to work extended hours as needed

  4. Ability to physically restrain children (if needed)

CLEARANCES REQUIRED:

  1. DOJ, FBI, Child Abuse Index

  2. Insurability Under Corporate Automobile Insurance
