Job Description:

McKinley Children’s Center is a highly respected child welfare organization, conveniently located near Los Angeles and Orange County in the city of San Dimas, with 4 other locations throughout Southern California. McKinley Children’s Center’s comprehensive array of programs and services - which touch nearly 1,500 lives annually - include Residential Treatment, Foster Care, Adoptions, Mental Health Services and Special Education. McKinley is nationally accredited, licensed by the California Department of Social Services and is certified by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. Our environment is highly therapeutic with many opportunities for activities with the children. Our beautiful 30 acre campus has a large covered outdoor basketball court, Olympic size pool, football/baseball field, play grounds, huge cafeteria, and a sports complex across the street which has baseball fields, tennis courts, and a running track.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The role of the Case Manager is to work in concert with the treatment team and particularly the Clinicians to liaison with the residents' families and county workers with regards to the progress and treatment issues of the individual clients. The Case Manager will assist in coordinating the Needs and Service Plan (NSP) and treatment/case conferences.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  1. Maintains a caseload of clients

  2. Complete appropriate documentation and participates in an inter-disciplinary treatment team for the clients on their caseload

  3. Facilitates psycho-educational groups for the clients at the facility, when indicated

  4. Responsible for contributing to the implementation of client behavior plans/appropriate interventions established by the Clinical Team, engaging in crisis intervention when required

  5. Ability to implement case plans through good professional judgment while maintaining a team approach is essential

  6. Liaison with the clients families and county workers with regards to the progress and treatment issues of the individual clients

  7. The Case Manager will assist in coordinating the Needs and Service Plan (NSP) and treatment/case conferences

  8. Assist client in developing independent living skills to promote independence and self-sufficiency

  9. Other related duties as assigned

Experience and Skills:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  1. Bachelor's Degree

  2. Four plus years of experience

  3. DMH HMRS Preferred

  4. Residential experience preferred

COMPUTER/OFFICE SKILLS REQUIRED:

  1. Microsoft Office

  2. General Office Skills

PHYSICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  1. Must pass pre-employment physical exam, TB and drug screening

  2. Ability to commute to various sites

  3. Ability to lift at least 10 pounds for filing, boxes, and packages

  4. Ability to sit for several hours performing clerical functions

CLEARANCES REQUIRED:

  1. DOJ, FBI, Child Abuse Index

  2. Insurability under Corporate Automobile Insurance
